For the restaurant, we were to create to-go packaging and a menu. To be consistent with the brand, I kept the minimal aesthetic for all the packaging. For the colors of the brand, I chose green to represent nature, the ivory color to represent wood, which is a staple for Norwegian architecture, the orange color to represent salmon since Norway is the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon and one of the main dishes offered at the restaurant, and a dark grey to give contrast.
Livlig Norwegian Cuisine
To Go Packaging and Menu Design
For this project, we were to research a country and brand a restaurant that would be located there. Since Norway is known for its modern, minimalistic style, I chose to keep the branding very minimal. For the wordmark, I used a bold, sans serif typeface to give it a clean, modern look. When researching, I found that Rosemaling (decorative floral folk art) plays a huge part in design there. This is why I chose to illustrate a modern iteration of this style for the logo mark. Norway is very passionate about the outdoors and is known for the natural beauty there, so I chose to make the pattern topographic lines. The lines also represent airiness which draws back to the name “Livlig,” meaning liveliness and spirited.
